Description
Climatically active bench "ECO BENCH" with vertical irrigated vegetation wall STERED is a wooden bench with a shelter. Rainwater is collected from the shelter into a retention tank with a volume of 200 l, located in the lower part of the bench. From the tank, water is pumped to a green wall located on the back wall of the bench. The energy to drive the pump is provided by a solar panel located on the shelter. The green wall is formed by a stonecrop and moss-covered STERED board, through which the flowing water flows by gravity back into the retention tank, thus creating a natural water cycle in the environment and by evaporating it cools the surrounding air.
Economic benefits
The bench has a primarily didactic effect on schools and the general public on how to take a practical approach to climate change mitigation. The entire bench is made of recyclable materials.
Environmental benefits
The product is made mainly of wood, recycled patented STERED material, recyclable plastic tank and recyclable metal parts. The bench uses an example of an irrigated energy-active vegetation wall made of STERED material, which when used for building envelopes (green walls) contributes significantly to increasing the energy efficiency of buildings and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Examples of implementation of the solution in practice
Bratislava Tyršovo nábrežie, after its cancellation the bench was installed in the village of Horní Němčí in Moravia.
