Description

CHEP provides customers with a pool of different types of blue pallets, which are used to distribute their goods to customers in SK or abroad. They inform CHEP about these deliveries, which then arranges for the efficient transport of the dispatched pallets to its own service centres. There, the pallets are inspected, repaired and qualitatively maintained in order to be delivered to customers and perform subsequent distribution cycles. This eliminates the need to produce new pallets. Pooling eliminates any of the problems associated with alternative pallet exchange, such as investing in your own pallets, maintaining administrative accounts, collecting empty pallets from customers, and the quality of the pallets being exchanged. In addition to manufacturers and distributors of goods, retail and wholesale companies are fully involved in pooling. Acceptance of pooling in Slovakia and throughout Europe is almost 100%.

Economic benefits

CHEP - pallet pooling saves its customers the costs of care, transport, maintenance and administration of pallets. Employees of CHEP's client companies can then focus on their core activities and not waste time and energy on pallet care. Thanks to its multinational extended distribution network, CHEP provides pallet delivery and collection at its own expense. CHEP uses its own network of partner carriers to efficiently redistribute transport costs.

Environmental benefits

The business itself, pallet rental, is based on sharing and extending the life cycle of a pallet. Pooling is built on the principles of the circular economy. Pallets are made from wood from 100% certified forests, with CHEP committed to planting two new trees for every one used.  At the end of their useful life, the pallets are used to make new ones or are fully recycled. In this way, CHEP strives for zero waste. The lifetime of a pallet is about 3.5 times longer than the lifetime of the replaced pallets, thanks to continuous inspection and repair at CHEP service centres. CHEP's worldwide pallet pool allows pallets to be collected close to the point of delivery to customers at all times, avoiding additional transport costs and emissions. The customer does not have to take the pallets back to their production site. Instead, the pallet is provided to the next manufacturer located nearby. CHEP has been recognized by Dow Jones, Barrons magazine as one of the top 3 most sustainable companies in the world and certified with the Eco Vadis Gold Recognition Level.
