Description

The Self-Governing Region of Trenčín has been using four electric vehicles since 2016. On average, the use of one electric vehicle for the needs of the TSR office represents an annual saving of 3.9 tonnes of CO2, which is approximately equal to the compensation of 433 trees of a two-hectare forest. Last year, TSR installed three fast charging stations in the towns of Považská Bystrica, Prievidza, and Stará Turá.

Economic benefits

The cost of operating four electric cars is €2 per 100 km of driving. This compares with the cost of running the current official petrol-powered cars, which is on average €8 per 100 km of driving, and €5 per 100 km of driving for diesel-powered cars.

Environmental benefits

New electric vehicles have replaced older official vehicles, reducing CO2 emissions by 15.6 tonnes year-on-year. This reduction represents an offset of up to 1,733 trees per year. Combined for 2014 and 2015, internal combustion engine vehicles produced 43.83 tonnes of CO2 emissions. In two years of EV use, this will be just 12.63 tonnes of CO2 emissions, representing an annual reduction of 6.31 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
