Description
In recent years, cycling has become an increasingly popular form of leisure in developed countries, and this trend is beginning to manifest itself in our country as well. Its importance in the transport service of the territory is gradually increasing. This is related not only to the development of cycling infrastructure, the marking of cycling routes or new additional services, but also to the changing socio-economic conditions in our country. The trend is towards healthier lifestyles, reducing the impact of transport on the environment, saving money, energy and time. A similar development is taking place in the territory of the Trenčín Self-Governing Region.
As part of its strategic planning, TSK has prepared the documents Sustainable Mobility Plan and "TSK Cycling Strategy for 2016-2030". The aim of the strategic documents is to guide the future development of cycling, planning and implementation of all activities in the field of cycling and cycling tourism on the territory of the Trenčín Region.
TSK is currently focusing mainly on the implementation of two large cycling projects:
The aim of the "Vážska cyklomagistrála" is to build a separate cycling road with a total length of 100km, which will be segregated from motor traffic as much as possible. The project of the Vážska cyklomagistrála runs across the Trenčín Region with the aim of connecting the Trnava Region with the Žilina Region.
The aim of the project Improvement of cycling infrastructure in the Upper Nitra region is to connect important towns in the Upper Nitra region by bicycle, the cycle route will connect the towns of Handlová, Prievidza, Nováky, Partizánske, up to the border with the Nitra municipality. The total length of the cycle route is more than 60 km."
