Partner Brens Europe, a. s., Plzeň used the STERED features new BRENS® products for environmental responsibility for track construction in industrial agglomerations and large settlements and their impact on the quality of the environment. Worldwide innovation is the interrail absorber of noise. Combined with recovered recycled old tires, it is now used to reduce noise and dust from tram transport. The technical solution for the rail surface modification also deals with the holding of rainfall water, or with evaporation of the supplied grey water. The tramway body thus becomes an active element for mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change, reducing the overheating of our cities. A low vegetation noise barrier for the green, quiet BRENS® track for city and suburban railways and trams was introduced, which, in addition to the basic noise reduction function, also contributes to increased rail traffic safety.

Economic benefits

The cost of operating a 'green line' with an inter-track noise absorber with a life cycle water retention function (LCC) shows savings, especially in maintenance and operating costs. Compared to the previously used grassing method (clay substrate), the new, advanced system shows less than 1/3 of the 20-year LCC costs.

Environmental benefits

By applying an inter-rail noise absorber with a water retention function, the body of the tramway thus becomes an active element for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, reducing the overheating of our cities.
