Description
sobi.eco is an ethical eco-brand created in collaboration with designer mayamay. They create their products from recycled clothes and used plastic bottles. The idea of the need to highlight the possibilities of using waste and ethical production came about alongside charity clothing collections, where many unwanted clothes end up, but which are often no longer wearable, or there are so many that there is no one to donate them to anymore.
Their activities support socially and medically disadvantaged people in Slovakia. They place their production in sheltered workshops, social enterprises or workshops that provide work in areas with high unemployment. In 2017, the idea of eco-social production was included among the 197 best ideas in the world in the UNLEASH Catalogue of Sustainable Solutions, which was created after the UNLEASH Laboratory global event in Denmark. A little later, in December 2017, they won the OpenMaker competition, and in 2019 they won the prestigious Golden Ant award and the National Entrepreneur Award for the Environment in the Slovak Republic in the Product and Service category.
