Description
The date of Embraco's entry into Slovakia is considered to be 5 December 1997, when the agreement on the establishment of the plant was signed in Spišská Nová Ves. Embraco also attracted a number of suppliers to Spiš, which brought additional employment opportunities to the region. After a yearly turbulent growth in production until around 2005, stabilisation and the introduction of sophisticated production processes followed. Embraco Slovakia has its focus in the production of compressors for commercial refrigeration and condensing units. Since 2011, it has also produced the worldwide Embraco Mini platform for domestic refrigeration. Since 1999, the plant has been exemplary in applying the principles of corporate responsibility, especially with a focus on children and youth. In 2013, it won the Via Bona Slovakia's top prize for Responsible Large Company of the Year. Embraco Slovakia has become the largest employer in the Lower Spiš region. In 2010, it was ranked in the top ten Slovak companies in the Best Employer study and maintains its reputation as an employer with a sophisticated social programme.
