Description
As part of the project "Water retention measures in the municipality of Veľké Turovce," the old roofing material—asphalt roofing felt and cinder insulation material, which was used as insulation in the 1970s—was removed. A new vapor barrier was installed, a polystyrene insulation layer was added, and the roof was covered with a waterproofing membrane. Subsequently, geotextile fabric and retention textile mats made from recycled textiles, which can retain rainwater, were laid on the roof. A substrate and sedum carpets were placed on top, covering an area of approximately 780 m2. Excess water from the extensive green roof is drained into two rain gardens, which were built on the sides of the building in 2015.

Environmental benefits
Reducing surface runoff, reducing flood risk, retaining water in the landscape. Recycled textile mats were used as part of the measure. Supporting biodiversity by planting new plants.
