Description

Klimatický klub (The Climate Club) presents an expert platform, which focuses on domestic and international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral stakeholder collaboration between experts and public, in the area of exploring, analysing and securing sustainable water cycle within the landscape with the goal of landscape revitalisation and climate regeneration. Klimatický klub holistically analyses the causal relationships of the water cycle, climate change, carbon footprint reduction and bioclimate regulation. The root zone wastewater treatment plant for the Detská misia, o.z. recreation center, located at the periphery of the Častá cadastre, is an example of green infrastructure for areas without a public sewage system. The benefits for the environment and undeniable, only clean water of exceptional quality enters the water stream. A dense sludge from the wastewater treatment plants operation ends up at the plants’ compost. The addition of plants into stony fields contributes to good flora and fauna biodiversity in the area.

Economic benefits

From the investment point of view, the solution to the proposed capacity of 50 EO required a cost of 20 000 €, i.e. 400 €/EO, for self-help implementation. Much of the manual work was carried out by volunteers. The operation of the treatment plant itself does not require electricity. It is therefore financially economical. It requires only routine supervision by the operator, the manager of the recreational facility.

Environmental benefits

The environmental benefit is indisputable, as treated wastewater of excellent quality is discharged into the stream. The thick sludge from the operation of the treatment plant ultimately ends up in the treatment plant's compost heap. The solution represents a minimal environmental impact, the site of the treatment plant is located in the outskirts of a recreational facility. The addition of plants to the gravel fields will further improve the quality of the water treatment and will also contribute to maintaining a good biodiversity of fauna and flora in the surrounding area.

Examples of implementation of the solution in practice

The root treatment plant for the recreational facility of the Children's Mission, o. z., in the outskirts of the cadastral territory of the municipality of Častá, is an example of building green infrastructure for areas without public sewerage.
