Description
SEWA offers companies, institutions, schools and municipalities free collection of e-waste directly from their premises throughout Slovakia.
Companies submit a request for e-waste collection via the online form on the website https://www.sewa.sk/sluzby/bezplatny-odvoz-elektroodpadu. Within 7-10 working days the collection will be completed and the company will receive the documents for accounting purposes via email.
Schools and educational institutions are rewarded with sporting goods for handing in electrical equipment, depending on the amount of e-waste handed in.
Residents - individuals can dispose of their e-waste free of charge in the following ways:
- Take very small e-waste (external dimension up to 25 cm) to any major electrical shop.
- As part of the take-back collection, they can hand in old equipment, of the same type, piece for piece, when buying new electrical equipment.
- Take the e-waste to the collection yard in the place of residence.
- Make use of collections organised by the municipality or municipal district, where old electrical equipment can also be handed in.
Economic benefits
Free service for companies, institutions, schools and municipalities. Individuals also do not pay for handed over e-waste if they make use of the above mentioned options.
Environmental benefits
The e-waste that is handed over through the above options goes to recycling plants. Here it is processed and the materials from which it was made (metals, plastics, glass, etc.) are recycled and used to make new products or semi-finished goods.
Recycling materials that have already been used saves the environment, as the raw materials used to make the products do not need to be extracted. If e-waste ends up, for example, in the wild or in a landfill, it releases toxic, harmful substances due to the weather, which subsequently pollute the soil, water and air.
E-waste is not allowed to be handed over to door-to-door collectors as in most cases it does not end up in collection yards but dumped in the countryside.
