Description
The town of Nové Zámky, with an area of 72.56 km2 and with the centre of the settlement at an altitude of 119 m above sea level, lies in the south-western border region of the Slovak Republic. Nové Zámky is located on the Danube Plain and is bordered on its eastern and southern sides by the Nitra River. The climatic conditions of the territory of Nové Zámky are suitable for agricultural primary production and, thanks to the presence of a watercourse and the permeability of the geological bedrock, it is relatively well supplied with groundwater. Nové Zámky together with 10 municipalities form the micro-region of Nové Zámky with its seat in Nové Zámky. One of the strategic objectives of the area is to increase the attractiveness and prosperity of the area by developing tourism. The territory of the micro-region is one of the warmest regions in Slovakia, which is used by residents and visitors for bathing at swimming pools, as well as on the sandy banks of the Váh, Nitra and Malý Danube rivers. The lowland character of the area with a high proportion of agricultural land offers original tips for the use of rural tourism.
